What Novel 3D Printing Technologies and Printable Materials will Drive the Industry’s Next Wave of Growth?, Conference Presentation, Rapid+TCT, April 2018

Synopsis: This research presentation will describe the latest materials and 3D printing technologies available and how this aligns with additive manufacturing’s long term future. Case studies to be presented will consider classes of printable materials as well as new process technologies supporting growth in specific industries. Examples to be discussed likely include the growth of metal injection molding printers, the push towards production-oriented metal and thermoplastic systems, recent software improvements for part design and process control, and the expansion of printable materials further enabling production and throughout. Projections will be made for future technology developments based on current efforts at the startup and corporate levels. Lastly, strategic implications for those participating in the additive manufacturing value chain are discussed, specifically the end user and the supplier to the market. This research is based on technical and business-focused interviews with industry experts at various organizations and combined with secondary data to create valuable insights.
